ProMaster Dually vs Sony BCQZ1: NP-FZ100 Charging Options

Quick answer

Choose the ProMaster Dually Charger if you need a compact, USB-powered dual battery charger for Sony NP-FZ100 batteries on the go. Choose the Sony BCQZ1 if you prioritize fast charging from a wall outlet and want a first-party charger with a charge indicator.

Why charging speed and power source matter

The Sony BCQZ1 fully charges an NP-FZ100 battery in about 150 minutes, making it a strong pick when you have access to AC power and need batteries ready quickly. The ProMaster Dually Charger relies on USB power, so its charging speed depends on the USB adapter you use—an important trade-off if you often charge from a power bank or laptop.

If you frequently shoot away from outlets, a USB charger for NP-FZ100 batteries gives you more flexibility. If you mainly charge at home or in a studio, the BCQZ1's dedicated AC charging may be more convenient.

Dual charging vs single-battery focus

The ProMaster Dually Charger can charge two NP-FZ100 batteries simultaneously, which saves time when you rotate through multiple batteries during a shoot. The Sony BCQZ1 charges one battery at a time, so you'll need to plan charging sessions if you rely on several batteries.

For photographers who carry three or more batteries, a dual battery charger for Sony cameras can reduce downtime. For those who only own one or two batteries, a single charger may be sufficient.

Portability and travel considerations

The ProMaster Dually Charger is described as compact and lightweight, making it easy to pack in a camera bag. Because it is USB-powered, you can use it with a wall adapter, power bank, or car charger—useful for travel and location work.

The Sony BCQZ1 supports voltage ranges of 100 to 240 V, so it can be used internationally with the appropriate plug adapter. However, it requires a wall outlet, which may be less convenient in remote locations.

When the catalog leaves you guessing

Neither product listing specifies the exact charging current or whether the ProMaster Dually supports fast-charging protocols. If you need precise charging times for the ProMaster, check the manufacturer's documentation or plan to test it with your USB power source.

The Sony BCQZ1's 150-minute charge time is supplied, but charging time may vary with battery condition and temperature. Use these figures as a general guide, not a guarantee.

Decision rules for choosing your NP-FZ100 charger

• If you often charge from a power bank or laptop: Pick the ProMaster Dually Charger because it is USB-powered and works with any USB power source. Confirm your USB adapter can supply enough power for two batteries.
• If you need the fastest single-battery charge from a wall outlet: Choose the Sony BCQZ1, which charges an NP-FZ100 in about 150 minutes. Keep a spare battery if you shoot continuously while charging.
• If you travel internationally: The Sony BCQZ1 supports 100–240 V, but you'll still need a plug adapter; the ProMaster Dually requires a USB power source, which is widely available. Pack a universal USB adapter for the ProMaster or a plug adapter for the Sony.
• If you own more than two NP-FZ100 batteries: A dual charger like the ProMaster Dually can charge two at once, but you may still need to rotate batteries; consider charging capacity before long trips. Count your batteries and estimate daily charging needs before buying.
