The larger 40-inch size makes a real difference in softening the light, and the combined shoot-through and reflector design gives me more control than my old plain umbrella. I’ve been getting noticeably smoother skin tones in my portraits.

I was skeptical about the extra diffusion versus a standard umbrella, but the reflector backing really does punch up the output without making the light harsh. The 40" size is perfect for a soft key light on a headshot.
