The image stabilization is really impressive for handheld shooting at the long end of the zoom range. I've been able to get sharp shots of distant birds in low light where I'd normally need a tripod. The whole setup balances nicely on a monopod too.

I was pleasantly surprised by how manageable this lens is to hand-hold for birding, given it reaches an equivalent of 800mm. The zoom ring is smooth and precise, making quick adjustments easy in the field.

Shooting moon shots at 800mm equivalent with the Micro Four Thirds body is a joy—the zoom ring has just the right dampening for precise framing. Handheld shots at the long end are surprisingly steady given how compact this zoom is.
