Rode NT5 Matched Pair Microphone

The matched pair gave me incredibly clear cymbal recordings right out of the box, and the cardioid pattern isolates each instrument perfectly. I was surprised how little self-noise there is even at high gain.

The small-diaphragm design makes them disappear into a mix on acoustic guitar, and the matched pair means the stereo image is dead center every time. I've used them on a few live gigs too, and they handle the stage noise without any harshness.
